Web site for climate service

A study on user evaluation of web pages has been conducted to look at how to increase the use of available climate adaptation guides online. The Centre has developed two climate service websites that were used in the study. The survey was conducted among users of a website on stormwater management, Ovase.no, and a website on avalanche risk management, LaRiMiT. The study shows that a general challenge in developing climate service websites is to include user needs. It is easier to focus on the technical solutions and the professional content of a website or a guide than on the needs of the users. One of the findings is that it is an advantage that climate service websites are developed within a consortium / network of researchers and public and private organizations working on climate change. Good coordination between the institutions that develop guidance material will prevent the use of resources on the same type or similar publications and websites.
