PhD project: Landslide triggered by hydro-meteorological processess

Landslides triggered by hydro-meteorological processes are expected to occur more frequently in the future, due to increased frequency of extreme precipitation associated with climate change. To reduce the consequences of precipitation-induced landslides, a better understanding of the physical mechanisms of debris flows is required. The PhD research work of Petter Fornes will focus on numerical modelling of debris flows for improving both the prediction of run-out distance and the evaluation of mitigation measures that aim to reduce consequences.
